Singletons Are Wanting Relationships To Beat Loneliness

Online dating service, Cupid.com surveyed 4000 of its members and found that just under half of their members enjoyed the single life.

However, they were very keen to say that they don’t want to be single for too long!

For 36 per cent of people, the worst thing about being single is the lack of companionship that it brings.

As well as that, 32 per cent of people said that loneliness was something that topped their list as the worst aspect of being single.

The participants did acknowledge that there are positives to being single, with 38 per cent of people enjoying the greater sense of independence that comes with being single.

Twenty two per cent of participants found that by being single they experience less hassle in general.

The lack of sex was a problem for the singletons, but not surprisingly more so for the men with 18 per cent listing it as their top problem.

Women did find it to be a problem, but only 14 per cent of them listed it as a main one.

It seems that there is not a specific time to wait until you start looking for a new relationship after ending one.

Some people said they had signed on Cupid.com within an hour of a break up, but one third of its members on the site had been single between one and three years.

Seventy eight per cent of the participants said that it depends how their previous relationship ended to how fast they would be looking for a new relationship.
