Damian Lewis: Eye Candy of the Week

Damian Lewis: Eye Candy of the Week

Damian Lewis is now better known for playing Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody in Homeland but this hasn’t been his only successful role.

He has done stage work as well as TV and films but it was his role in Jonathan Kent’s production of Hamlet that set the ball of his career rolling.

He starred as Laertes opposite Ralph Fiennes’ Hamlet and this is when Steven Spielberg discovered him.

Steven then asked Damian to star as Richard Winters in the HBO/BBC World War II miniseries, Band of Brothers.

It was his first role that required a credible American accent and he did not disappoint with his performance winning praise.

What we love about Damian, aside from his devilishly handsome looks, is that regardless of this film or show, he always gives a top performance.

This was the case when he starred in Keane in 2004. The film didn’t perform well at the box office but Damian’s performance was given rave reviews.

In 2008, after many other projects, Damian starred as the main character, Charlie Crews in US TV series, Life.

The show won the 2008 AFI Award for best television series but was cancelled by NBC to make way for The Jay Leno Show due to its high production costs.

By far his biggest and best role to date has to be Nicholas Brody in Homeland; he plays the character beautifully and is flying the flag for Brits!

To give an example of just how good his is, he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

He’s up for even more awards for the role and he just has to win them! Damian has renewed his contract for a further five series of Homeland but producers have insisted that this does not mean the show will run for that long.
