Well now new survey has revealed that 35% of Britons have been disturbed during a sexual encounter, with public bathrooms and bedrooms the most common places to be caught in.. The poll also reveals two thirds of those disturbed in public bathrooms admitted to carrying on regardless after the interruption.

According to the research from the UK's top online pharmacy that booze adds to the bravado as only 18% of Britons feel confident enough to have a sexual encounter outside of the house when sober, compared to more than half (58%) when under the influence of alcohol. Furthermore, the survey revealed the most likely places to be caught in the act; a fate which 35% of Britons have suffered.

The survey, conducted by online pharmacy www.UKMedix.co.uk, was undertaken as part of an ongoing study in to whether or not surroundings effect where Britons will have sexual relations. 2,439 Britons aged 18 and over, all of whom stated they are sexually active, were quizzed about whether or not they would get down and dirty within certain situations and whether or not they had ever been disturbed during an intimate moment.

Initially all respondents were asked 'Have you or would you have sex outdoors while sober?' to which the majority of respondents, 82%, stated 'no', with the remaining 18% of respondents stating 'yes'. Respondents were then asked the question again, but this time if they would while drunk, to which three fifths of respondents (58%) stating 'yes', they would. The respondents who had or would have sex outside if drunk but not while sober were asked why, with the most common responses were 'I'm more spontaneous when I've been drinking' (37%) and 'Dutch courage allows me to do the things I don't have the courage to do normally' (35%).

All respondents were then asked 'Have you ever been disturbed during an intimate moment with a partner?' and told to take into account any moments, sober or under the influence of alcohol. A third of respondents (35%) admitted 'yes' they had.

Wanting to delve a little deeper, all respondents were asked to state where they had been disturbed during an intimate moment. When provided with a list of possible responses and told to select all that applied, the top 5 responses were as follows:

1.In a public bathroom - 40%

2.In my own bedroom - 36%

3.In a car - 24%

4.On an aeroplane - 23%

5.In an alleyway outside a pub/bar/nightclub - 20%

According to the poll, of those disturbed in a pubic bathroom, 68% of respondents admitted that they 'carried on regardless' after the interruption, with the remaining 32% admitting that being disturbed had 'killed the mood'.

Furthermore, of those who admitted to having been disturbed in a bedroom, 52% admitted it was their parents who had disturbed them, with 86% stating that activity had ceased after the disturbance.

Thomas O'Connell, Head of Research & Product Management at UKMedix says:

"We're alarmed by the results of this study; not only by how many Britons have been disturbed during a sexual encounter, but that so many chose to continue afterwards! We always thought that the bedroom would've been the top place to be disturbed, what with that surely being the most popular place to have sex - although, if Britons are choosing to have sex outside the bedroom, and public bathrooms are consistently busy, I suppose it makes sense.

"When it comes to sexual relations, we would always advise Britons to think before they act, particularly if under the influence of alcohol, when you're more likely to push the boundaries. And most importantly, always perform safe sex."
