A Catholic school has been forced to cover up a recently-installed statue after staff claimed it looked inappropriate.

The statue captures Saint Martin de Porres offering a loaf of bread to a young boy from under his cloak, and though it was only recently erected outside Blackfriars Priory School in Adelaide, Australia, people have requested for the artwork to be concealed because some believe it looks like a sexual act.
And after a wave of social media activity, the institution has decided to cover up the figurine, although the principal, Simon Cobiac, didn't think it looked ''suggestive'' in the 2D prints.
In a statement posted on Facebook, he said: ''The two-dimensional concept plans for the statue were viewed and approved by the executive team in May but upon arrival the three-dimensional statue was deemed by the executive to be potentially suggestive.''
And the school have since commissioned another sculptor to ''re-design'' the piece to avoid any further upset.
He continued: ''As a consequence, the statue was immediately covered and a local sculptor has been commissioned to re-design it.
''The school apologises for any concerns and publicity generated by this matter and is taking action to substantially alter the statue.''
The image has since gone viral on social media, with memes being made out of the sculpture.
